Toxicity and protection
|
Acetic acid is toxic, highly corrosive, irritating to the skin and mucous membranes, and should be avoided to avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. During packaging and sampling, the operator should wear protective equipment such as glasses. If it falls onto the skin or eyes, immediately wash it with alkaline soap or plenty of water to prevent burns and be diagnosed by a doctor. The maximum allowable concentration in air does not exceed 25 mg/m 3 , and the explosion limit when mixed with air is 4.0% to 16.0%.
